The width of the blinds should be between 0 inches and 0.2 inches narrower than the window width, and keep in mind that motorized roller shades will have a slight light gap on both sides. For complete blackout, consider opting for an outside mount to eliminate light gaps; 2. Outside installation: The shades should extend 4 to 6 inches wider than the window frame to ensure optimal coverage.
